Traveling to Vietnam by airline

Vietnam Travel Visa ? Unless you are are from a visa-exempt country then you should and must read this. Some countries that need a visa include: Canada, US, Australia, New Zealand, France, UK, Germany and Spain.

Vietnam is the only country in the southeast asian circuit that you ‘cannot’ get the traditional visa-on-arrival. Over the last couple of years policies have changed for the better, but there still is a process. At the time this was written (Dec, 2011), if you were from one of the exempt countries listed on the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism’s you didn’t have to worry about getting a visa (or visa letter). Follow the link to see the list of countries. For all others you have two choices: 1. Attain a visa from a local Vietnam embassy or consolate outside of Vietnam, or a Visa provider; 2. Attain a ‘visa letter’ – only good if you are flying into one of Vietnam’s international airports (Hanoi, Danang, or Saigon). You can attain the visa letter very easily from a variety of online sources and travel agencies. Footprint Vietnam Travel has the ability to get the visa letter for you as long as a tour is booked with the company (Vietnam Immigration Department policy). To get the letter is simple. A scan of the first page of your passport, as well as your flight itinerary is all that is needed.

Visa options at the moment include: one to three month, single or multiple, tourist or business visas. Any combination of the latter will do, costs fluctuate with multiple entry visas being the most expensive. When ready, the visa letter is emailed to you to print out. Before departing for your trip, you must print out one copy of the whole visa letter per passenger.  As a final tip, make sure your passport is valid for at least six months before traveling anywhere in southeast asia. Vietnam’s visa policies change frequently and without notice. Please email Footprint for the most up-to-date information if you need a Vietnam visa.
